Bringing Some Taste to the Tri-Cities, WA

Have you ever thought to yourself "There is no where to eat in the Tri-Cities, Wa"?

I know I have thought it, and even more times, heard other people say those exact words. The problem with that statement is that it just isn't true. A quick glance in any phone book (or our new online directory) reveals that there are over 300 "places to eat in the Tri-Cities, Wa."

So why is everyone still thinking that?

My best guess would be because people have been corrupted by the corporate, mass produced meals advertised on network television. Most people have that staple restaurant they go to whenever they go to Seattle or Portland or anywhere they are and see that restaurant that we don't have here. The fact that Kennewick, Wa. doesn't have a Chili's, or that there is no TGI Friday's in Richland, Wa., people have the assumption that there is no where to eat.

Do I need to refer back to the previous statement about the over 300 restaurants right in your own back yard?

Sure, we have our national chains, with more and more coming into town. Don't get me wrong, I like Chili's, have you had their Enchilada Soup? But I also like something different, something with a more home cooked feel, and a warmer, family atmosphere.

That is where the Tri-Cities, Wa excels, homegrown, home-owned restaurants, diners, joints, hole-in-the-wall dives, mom and pop's, whatever you want to call them, there is probably one just around the corner. Chances are, they are just as good, if not better than those national chain eateries.

The problem? Unless it is that one just around the corner, you probably don't even know that all these places exist. For instance; Have you ever eaten at Magill's Family Restaurant in Pasco? Phuket Thai in Kennewick? These are just two examples of great restaurants you probably aren't going to.

This is where the idea for Taste came to be. To get the word out to everyone in the Tri-Cities, Wa., those just coming in for the weekend, as well as those who call this place home.

So search through our website or pick up our magazine, and go try something new. You just might like it.
